1 Lombard Street

Not a Michelin starred restaurant but we thought we would go as they have a great offer on and we were in the area by the Bank of England !! And I must say we were pleasantly surprised.

The restaurant is very large with a fabulous bar centre piece and beautiful large windows.

Their offer was for either 2 courses for £19.50 or 3 courses for £23.50, you cant really go far wrong with that!

The Menu:

Chefs Appetiser

Sea Bream Tar-tare, Melon & Lime
or

Pork Rillette, Apricots and raisins
or
Roasted Beetroot Salad, Rocket and feta

Grilled Swordfish, sushi rice, chilli and soya dressing
or
Braised Lamb Shoulder, Olives, sun blushed tomatoes and mash
or
Cheese and Mushroom Tortellini
or
Sirloin Steak (supplement £9.00), chips and bearnaise
or
Grilled Tuna Steak (supplement £9.00), vegetable spaghetti stir fry

Chocolate and Passion fruit tart, raspberry sorbet

or
Dark Chocolate Creme Brulee, shortbread biscuits
or
A selection of Cheeses and Biscuits

The Chefs appetiser was a nice small cupette of carrot soup. We ordered the Roasted Beetroot salad with feta, but actually as you can see from the photo we think that either the chef got a little muddled or they must have run out of beetroot as we actually got the sea bream with feta !! Which luckily worked ! The pork rillette was good too.

The braised Lamb shoulder was very nice. But it is the desserts where they really come into their own. We weren't sure whether the Dark Chocolate Crème Brulee would work, as crème brulee's tend to be quite light dishes, so with a heavy dark chocolate it was anyone's guess. But we've gotta tell you – it was fabulous !! Our favourite though was the Passion Fruit tart – WOW !! A previous time we have had their Passion fruit Pannacotta which was also sublime !

And at these great prices, we have no hesitation recommending this restaurant.
